The Story of Emory Douglas is an accordion book design exploring the life of Black Panther’s own, Emory Douglas. Emory Douglas was the revolutionary groups’ political artist responsible for their newspaper designs. Douglas believed that “Art is a powerful tool, a language that can be used to enlighten, inform and guide to action,” which is why I felt the importance to share his legendary work. The accordion book design explores his life, where he started, his design style, his impact, and where he is now. The background designs were all inspired by his own work featured in the Black Panther’s newspaper. The accordion book was designed on Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
